Domaine Sigalas Santorini
Domaine Sigalas was founded in 1991 by Paris Sigalas, Christos Markozane and Yiannis Toundas. Initially, Sigalas winery was accommodated at the traditional winery of Paris Sigalas family. Later on, in 1998, a new wine production, bottling and maturity unit was built and activated in a privately owned area, in Oia, the northern part of Santorini Island. Today, after constant investments on technology modernization and expansions the current productive structure is formed, which allows the elaboration and bottling of 200.000 bottles a year.
The company cultivates 19 hectares of vineyards with local varieties and produces quality wines, in which you can see the potential of the varieties and the unique ‘terroir; of the volcanic island.
The year 2003 has been a particularly important year for the company’s progressive course. In particular, the company’s financial sufficiency was improved since Mr. Alexander Avataggelos, joined the Sigalas shareholders council and also due to significant capital increases. Moreover, its legal entity was changed from Domaine Sigalas Ltd. to Domaine Sigalas SA.
The company continues its developing strategy always based on its three formative principles: CREATIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TRADITION OF SANTORINI LAND, KNOW-HOW and QUALITY. These principles have always been and still are the fundamental basis of its philosophy.
Our vision still remains the conquest of a dominant place, between wineries that produce wine of high quality and recognition, worldwide.
SIGALAS WINERY
The winery of Sigalas is located in the plain of Oia, in Santorini, in an area called Baxedes. There, the premium variety of the Mediterranean zone Santorini’s Asyrtico, Aidani, Athiri, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano are farmed in the best possible way to suit their aroma and taste profile, producing fine wines of high quality recognized and appreciated in international contests.
